The factory taillights on a 79 use halogen bulbs that were old tech the day they were fitted. They are slow to come on when you hit the brakes, dim in daylight, and easy to miss in heavy rain or dust. On a ute that is regularly towing a trailer or driving in convoy on a dirt road, weak taillights are a safety issue worth fixing. Modern LED tub or tray-mount tail lights light up instantly when you hit the brakes, produce a sharp focused output that cuts through poor conditions, and run cool with massive lifespan compared to filament bulbs.

SEALED LED UNITS FOR THE TRAY OR TUB

Our 79 tail light range is sealed and fully weatherproof, built for water, dust, mud, and the constant vibration of off-road driving. Each unit replaces the factory housing using the existing mounting holes and plugs into the factory wiring with no splicing on most options. Brake, indicator, and reverse functions are all included as part of the unit. Clear-lens and tinted-lens options are available for the look you want. Some models include CANbus electronics to prevent dash warning lights on the new GDJ79.

SINGLE CAB AND DUAL CAB TRAY-MOUNTED OPTIONS

This collection covers tail lights mounted in the tray sides on single cab and dual cab 79s. VDJ (2007-2023) and GDJ (2024 onward) variants are both covered, with the wiring and mounting differing slightly between eras.
