70 Series Land Cruiser Rear Bars

Heavy Duty Rear End Protection for the 70 Series

The factory rear bumper on a 70 Series is a lightweight stamped steel unit that offers minimal protection in a rear impact and no provisions for carrying spare wheels, jerry cans, or recovery gear. A purpose built rear bar replaces the factory bumper with a heavy duty steel platform that protects the rear of the vehicle from impacts on the trail, in car parks, and during recovery situations. Beyond protection, a rear bar is the mounting point for all the gear that serious touring and off road builds need carried at the back of the vehicle.

Spare Wheel Carriers, Jerry Can Mounts, and Recovery Points

Rear bars for the 70 Series are engineered as complete rear end systems. Swing away arms carry spare wheels and jerry cans on either side, with gas strut assisted opening that makes accessing the rear of the vehicle easy even when the arms are fully loaded. Integrated hi lift jacking points provide a solid recovery option without needing to carry a separate base plate. LED tail lights and reverse lights replace the factory units with brighter, more visible lighting. Heavy duty over centre latches lock the swing arms securely in place and eliminate rattling on rough roads. Tow hitches and receiver mounts are built into most bars for towing trailers, campers, and boats. Construction is typically 3mm steel with a durable powder coated finish that handles years of hard use.

Rear Bars for Troopy, Wagon, and Ute

This collection covers rear bars for the full 70 Series range including the 78 Troop Carrier, 76 Wagon, 79 Series single cab and dual cab, and older 75 Series models. Each bar is designed for the specific rear body dimensions of the model it fits, as the Troopy barn door, wagon tailgate, and ute tray each have different mounting configurations and clearance requirements. Rear bars are available for the VDJ V8 (2007 to 2023) and GDJ facelift (2024 onward) across all variants. Moving the spare wheel from the factory location to a rear bar mounted carrier frees up space in the tray or cargo area and improves the departure angle by tucking the spare in tighter behind the vehicle.
